Vegetarian

I have been trying vegetarian catered products in the refrigerated and frozen section at the supermarket. I have made some opinions, as has my husband, he thinks along the lines of "why eat meat flavored veggies when you can just eat veggies. Here are a few of my opinions:
Yves Hot dogs- not good. These are highly reviewed
Tofurky hot dogs-no good
Smart Dogs- good the first time, but now I know how wrong I was. I am thinking it is impossible to eat a veggie dog.
Boca Burger-good, not so natural ingredients
Garden Burger- good, will try the vegan version next
Do not barbecue tofu.
Morning Star bacon- not bad, but too chemical ridden
Morning Star Turk'y burger- good, can see chunks of veggies in it, like yummy avacado. Good texture
Veggie Patch Broccoli Bites-good, not vegan, my kids would not touch them. I ate them with Stubbs bbq sauce
Field Roast Smoked Apple Sausage-ate two, the rest have been in the fridge for months. These come highly reviewed but I must not like them since some are still in the fridge.
Refridgerated Veggie Patties from Costco-good 90 fat calories, 440mg of sodium. 14 patties for $9.99 probably won't buy them again.
I feel better off eating a boca burger which has 5 fat calories. Their website conflicts on sodium content 260 mg or 520 mg which is it?!
I'm going to make my own veggie patties with a recipe I found in Better Home and Garden magazine. I'll let you know how it goes :)
Happy Vegging!

What's new with you?

Since nobody reads this and I use Facebook a lot, is the reason for lack of posts. I went on a Cruise to the Mexican Riviera but I have no photos to post as my husband has not given me a cd of it, even if it does only take 10 seconds(exaggerate) to copy one.
I am pretty much a vegetarian now so that could make for some interesting posts or I could just post links to good articles so I don't have to write and I share my recipes on my Allrecipes.com profile.
I think it's more fun to be vegetarian, my cooking skills are put to the test to make tasteful, nourishing food for my family.

Koo de Kir

I subscribe to Better Homes and Gardens magazine. I sadly lost most of my back issues due to a flood. I think it is the July 2008 issue that I miss the most. The "Better Home" was a small house, like mine, same color scheme, similar furniture, but better. I want to accentuate my Living room with similar draperies and vases. I found the featured Koo de Kir website to order a vase and discovered Designer Eva Zeisel.
Here is a little taste of Zeisel

I absolutely love it! Curvy, simple white, so pleasing to my eye. Zeisel also has some awesome curvy designs available at Crate and Barrel

Back to my poor BHG issues...I registered with coverleaf.com to view BHG back issues online and they didn't post all of them! I'll get my remodel done,(someday) my memory of that page will serve me well.

Gardening

It is that time of year. The time when I get back to nature by cutting my nails shorts, put on my work clothes, dig my fingers into the fragrant, warm soil and plant my garden.
The garden is home to me. Coaxing those little buds to grow, daily hoeing the weeds, shooing the dog away from my onions, teaching my girls the names of plants. I plant the peas along the fence line so the neighbors can walk by and sample God's goodness.
My favorite vegetables and fruits to plant would have to be: zucchini, cucumber, pumpkin, potatoes, peas, radishes, lettuce, and cabbage.
Don't even get me started on how many types of flowers. I could make a list of them but I'm not sure that would be entertaining to you.
I'm sure the place Jesus is preparing for me in heaven has such a wonderful garden, colors and plants the likes of which I have never seen, and a hammock.
The winter is over and it is time to shine.

A photo of a little mystery sprout I found in a flower bed. We'll see what it is soon. (It was a Lupine)

Can we not agree, sometimes you just have to go for it and make a sand angel?
Do something totally unexpected of yourself? Or do we only have time for that on the weekend and vacation? No matter what, please live, don't just exist.
I love this picture.

Pastor Rad

Yesterday, I nicknamed Bob "Pastor Rad". We were watching "Chuck" on NBC and Bob mentioned how a character was named "Devon Awesome" nicknamed "Captain Awesome". I argued there was no way they named him "Awesome" that his character probably has a regular last name.
I told Bob it's like if the kids started calling Bob "Pastor Rad". That doesn't mean "Rad" is his last name. Devon is a Dr. so why wouldn't they call him "Dr. Awesome"? So what if they call Devon's parents Mr. and Mrs. Awesome...maybe I will call Bob's parents Mr. and Mrs. Rad!
Awesome, that's awesome!
Rad, that's rad!

I found it. His name is Woodcomb on Chuck, not Awesome. Told you these blogs would be random.
